Best Destinations for Stargazers & Astro-Tourists
What could be more beautiful than the shiny night sky? The glistening stars blinking at you as you stare at them from right below. And the moment you catch a shooting star going right past and you bring your hands to your heart to make a wish. Millions of things undiscovered and unseen, so much to be curious about. Stargazing is one of the most beautiful activity a person could ever do. Just sitting in silence with someone you love or alone and staring right above at the magic that unfolds in the sky. isn't it so peaceful? That feeling... in my opinion its the most peaceful moment ever. Thats why there are some people who would go to any extend just to witness the scene, some for studying the magic and others just to enjoy.
Dir and Chitral
Dir and Chitral are among Pakistan's premier dark sky destinations making it much easier to spot the stars. The high altitudes and crisp mountain air are ideal situations for stargazing as there is virtually zero light pollution. The best times for viewing the Milky Way are crisp and clear winter nights or late summer evenings ideally during a crescent or gibbous moon phase.
It is quite an under rated place and thats what makes it even more special because the best places are those unexplored by us. In my opinion it is worth visiting especially in the winter when you can have a cup of hot chocolate in your hands, wrapped up in blankets under the night sky and maybe in the arms of your lover.
Deosai National Park n Skardu
Skardu is a well known location of Pakistan known for its scenic beauty and weather. Its one of the most beautiful places in the world and the night sky is then just unforgettable and priceless scene to witness with your eyes. The deosai national park and skardu offer the darkest and most beautiful night skies, free of light pollution and crisp air make it even more magical. Wouldnt it be wonderful juts gazing at the stars and imagining what it might feel like up there?
Atacama Desert, Chile
This destination is also one of the most beautiful places in the world for stargazers. How wonderful it would feel to be looking up and making up shapes and images from the stars laughing aloud with people you love. It has over 300 clear nights per year.
Swat and Kaghan Valleys
The high meadows and passes here are home to excellent atmospheric clarity for astrophotography. Thats why it is a well known place for stargazers.
Wherever the sky is darkest, the wonder is waiting.
